Digital products

People, brands and institutions have been pulled into a space that is dictated by algorithm-driven platforms, over-optimisation and the exploitation of attention. There is an overload of stimuli that often leaves us feeling nothing.
We are excited for the digital world, but want to shape it on our own terms. The potential of what could be is far more interesting than simply following the herd. Additions to the digital landscape should be authentic, original and above all meaningful. We want to help others to achieve this.
To do so, we experiment at the intersection of design and technology. Unbound by a single medium, we have experience in developing custom interactive installations, Virtual Reality experiences, AI systems, digital tools, spatial audioscapes and web experiences.
Although we have a strong foundation in programming, we approach technology as a means to an end rather than a starting point. A project that starts out as a virtual reality application might end up as a poetry-reciting mural. What matters is that the final project fulfils its purpose in a way that is impactful and original.
Krom office in Eindhoven
We study every case until we understand its essence and complexities, allowing us a holistic view. From there, we explore possibilities through experimentation, prototyping and analysis. Following an iterative process, we give ideas the space to evolve. With a broad understanding of design, technology and human-computer interaction, we evaluate decisions—big or small. Throughout the process, we oversee every detail while collaborating with a diverse network of creatives. This approach allows us to bring clear, compelling ideas to life.
Krom was founded in 2018 by Joris van Oers and Cas Slaats to work on ideas regarding human-computer interaction. Over the years we have evolved our expertise into the development of full experiences, where design, technology and creative direction come together. Being inherently curious, we focus on projects of an explorative nature, independent of platform and form, creating work that exists in both the physical- and digital world.
The freedom to experiment and think openly is essential to us, as we believe that in order to shape the future we have to explore potential scenarios. We aim to create work that is unexpected, thought provoking and is able to evolve.
Krom is located in the city of Eindhoven.
