Description

With AI now widely accessible, creatives must rethink how they work. Rather than treating AI as an instant problem solver, creatives should identify which parts of their process can be enhanced by AI, allowing it to empower their work rather than replace it.

In response to the homogeneous AI-generated content flooding the internet, we explored processes that give designers more control. To preserve authenticity while working with AI, it is essential to explore hybrid forms of creation. This prototype allowed designers to shape a generated image, simply by sketching its rough shape. Combined with a prompt, it offers greater creative control in an intuitive way.

During 2024, we held multiple workshops that explored the idea of more controlled AI creation. Challenged by unconventional assignments participants used the tool to come up with new concepts for chairs. Read the article about the workshops.

A sketch and a 3D render (render by AI) next to each other. The result of one person's design process during our workshop.

A sketch alongside an AI render— a participant’s design process during the workshop.

This prototype is part of an ongoing research, The Creative Agent Series, which investigates the potential role of (AI) systems in the creative process.
